Macquarie Group Limited is seeking talented and ambitious graduates or final year students to join Macquarie Securities Group Trading Division in Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore, London and New York.

Macquarie Securities Group (MSG) is a global institutional securities house with strong Asia-Pacific foundations covering sales, research, ECM, execution and derivatives and delta one activities. The group uses its research and risk management skills to develop equity-based solutions and services for clients internationally.

The Trading Division operates as a globally coordinated team to provide best execution to clients and greater efficiency to financial markets across the spectrum of asset classes and financial products. The Trading team levers Macquarie's strengths to achieve optimal outcomes and deliver value. It specialises in solutions to help provide liquidity and market access and to help navigate regulatory environments, transaction costs, investor mandates and multiple listings across different time zones. It offers products such as exchange traded funds, equity swaps, P-notes, depository receipts and equity finance. The Trading Division is based in Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong, London and New York.

What you could be doing

Graduates entering this role could reasonably expect to be involved in the following tasks:

Performing research and analysis for other traders

Maintaining trading and pricing tools

Designing and enhancing trading systems

Contributing to projects relating to trading businesses

Once they have developed sufficient product, technical and professional skills, graduates entering this role could expect quickly to become an integral member of a trading team with responsibilities extending to:

Managing trading risks

Market making in a variety of products

Executing trades within their strategy mandate and risk limit framework

Identifying opportunities to maximise returns on capital and funding

Developing client relationships and introducing novel strategies

What we look for

We are looking for outstanding students who have the potential to make a positive contribution to the organisation. To be successful, you will have:

Excellent analytical, numerical reasoning, written and verbal communication skills

An entrepreneurial spirit and a creative approach to problem solving

Ability to handle high pressure situations

A conceptual understanding of hedging, financial instruments, trading profit/losses

Technically skilled in Excel/VBA, C# (.Net 4) and/or C++/Java would be advantageous
